Cotton Market News and Commentary

Cotton futures were 12 to 26 points lower at the end of the futures session. The Cotlook A Index was down 15 points at 86.90 on April 2. The weekly Export Sales report will be released on Thursday, with traders again watching for sales to China. The trade is also keeping an eye on the US/China trade talks going on in DC this week. The USDA Adjusted World Price (AWP) is 68.23 cents/lb, good through tomorrow. In their monthly update, ICAC is looking for global cotton consumption to hit an all time high of 27.3 MMT in 2019/20, with production at 27.6 MMT. Ending stocks would thus creep up to 17.7 MMT.

Jul 19 Cotton closed at 77.770, down 26 points

Oct 19 Cotton closed at 76.670, down 12 points
